A hot Jamaican patty fresh from the oven is without a doubt one of the finest things in the world, if you've never had the pleasure. Jamaicans eat patties on the street, down on the beach, at lunch break... we take home bagfuls to pop in the oven for supper. It's as big a part of our cultural cuisine as blue mountain coffee.

Patties are a kind of fusion between the pasties that sailors brought to Jamaica back in the pirate days of the Caribbean and our local Jamaican cooking style - wonderfully tasty meat, fish or vegetable fillings, infused with a rich blend of spices and herbs. All wrapped up in a light pastry casing that's uniquely Jamaican.

We won't pretend that Port Royal patties are made in Jamaica. They're not. Our patties are made in England by a Jamaican family company from an old family recipe. We think they are the most authentic and best quality Jamaican patties you can get - they go down really well in Jamaica too, where a bad patty wouldn't last as long as a vicar in a cathouse.
